SBI Holdings(SBI), a listed Tokyo Japanese financial services conglomerate, acquired a minority stake in US-based OTC derivatives e-trading platform provider Clear Markets for an undisclosed sum, via its subsidiary SBI Crypto Investment, according to the announcement.
The partnership with Clear Markets would help SBI further to expand its digital asset business, as Clear Market, which is a licensed e-trading provider in US, UK and Japan, is willing to tap into SWAP transaction business for digital assets and cryptocurrencies.
Meanwhile, its other subsidiary SBI Investment’s SBI AI&Blockchain Fund would raise capitals up to around JPY 60bn for investing startups in AI and blockchain space. The total amount raised by SBI AI&Blockchain Fund already reached JPY 50bn.
SBI’s Virtual Currencies launched a cryptocurrency spot trading service VCTRADE in this June, according to its previous announcement.
SBI has its market cap of about JPY 680bn(USD 6bn).
