LINE, a listed Japan-based messenger app operator, announced that its token LINK started trading on BITBOX, LINE’s group crypto Exchange, according to its website.
While not planning an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) via its token, LINE utilizes a reward system that gives users LINK as compensation for certain services within the LINE ecosystem which has LINE’s various services such as contents, commerce, social, gaming, and exchange for users.
LINK is managed by LINK Chain, LINE’s service-oriented blockchain network (mainnet) applied to the LINE messaging platform.
LINE CEO Takeshi Idezawa was cited as saying that LINE would like to continue developing as a user participation-based platform with LINK.
For residents in Japan, LINK Point will be available as rewards for activities in dApp services, instead of LINK.
BITBOX is managed by LINE’s Singapore-based subsidiary LINE Tech Plus.
LINE, which is listed on NYSE and TSE, has a market cap of about JPY 1.1 trn (USD 10bn).
