Justin O’Brien, product manager at Coinbase, wrote on the exchange’s blog that the move will enable merchants to accept online payments made in USDC by consumers without transaction fees and chargebacks.
Merchants will also have full control over funds through the service.
Coinbase Commerce supports other cryptocurrencies, namely Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, and Litecoin.
Coinbase launched the service in February 2018 to aid merchants in accepting cryptocurrencies directly into a user-controlled wallet.
“Coinbase Commerce can be directly integrated into a merchant’s checkout flow or added as a payment option on an e-commerce platform,” the exchange explained.
Coinbase Commerce is currently integrated in several e-commerce platforms such as PrestaShop, WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, and OpenCart.
