Dapper Labs, NBA Partner to Launch Basketball DApp Game

Dapper Labs, the blockchain firm behind popular DApp game CryptoKitties, has partnered with the National Basketball Association to develop a game that consists of blockchain-based NBA collectibles.

According to a report by CoinDesk, the DApp game called NBA Top Shot will allow users to buy, sell, and trade digital NBA collectibles that can be also be used in online tournaments and on-chain leagues on-chain .

NBA Top Shot will also enable players to gain players and buying moves from previous seasons to create rosters.

Dapper Labs and NBA are joined by the National Basketball Players Association, which holds the idea that blockchain can create a product that fans can “create, manage and engage within a fun environment,” according to Josh Goodstadt, executive vice president of licensing at NBPA’s THINK450 group.

Dapper Labs, NBA, and NBPA will launch the NBA Top Shot collectibles later in the year for NBA’s regular-season tip-off.

NBPA noted that the launch of the game is part of an effort to provide a “fun, authentic and accessible” fan engagement on blockchain.
