Samsung Electronics is set to unveil a new variant of its Galaxy Note 10 smartphone called KlaytnPhone, which is pre-installed with a cryptocurrency wallet and several decentralized applications, under a partnership with Kakao’s blockchain subsidiary Ground X.
According to a report by CoinDesk, Samsung derived KlaytPhone, which is named after Kakao’s global public blockchain project Klaytn, as part of its effort to further promote the adoption of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
The new Galaxy Note 10 edition will be exclusively sold in South Korea so far.
Aside from having access to DApps and a cryptocurrency wallet, KlaytnPhone users will be allowed to make full-scale transactions on the Klaytn network.
Buyers of the blockchain-supported smartphone will also be given a certain amount of Klay tokens upon purchase.
Samsung began its move to blockchain and cryptocurrency in March when it equipped its Galaxy S10 smartphone with the Samsung Blockchain Wallet.
The South Korean tech firm also reported in May that it would pre-install a cryptocurrency wallet on its budget Galaxy smartphones as well.
