Axie Infinity developer Sky Mavis has raised $1,465,000 in a financing round to speed up the development of the fantasy-themed pet collecting DApp game and potentially create more DApps.

According to the announcement, the added funding will help the game developer expand its team, develop more game features, and gain new customers and community members through media influence.

Sky Mavis also hinted at launching a mobile app of Axie Infinity in early 2020 that will potentially introduce the “play to earn” model to a wider audience of blockchain users.

Hong Kong-based firm Animoca Brands led the financing round along with Hashed, Pangea Blockchain Fund, ConsenSys, and 500 Startups.

Axie Infinity is a DApp game where players can collect mythical creatures called Axies and raised them like pets in a virtual 6×6 environment.

The body parts of Axies are based on those of real life creatures, mythical beasts, and inanimate objects. The class composition of the Axie’s body parts contribute to the creature’s stats and ability to fight in battles.
