Splinterlands Launches Conversion of Cards, DEC to Ethereum

by Monica Padillo

Players of Splinterlands, a fantasy-themed digital collectible multiplayer card DApp game, can now buy, sell, and trade their cards for ETH and ERC-721 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain through the OpenSea marketplace.

According to the announcement, Splinterlands has launched an auction for exclusive, high-value cards on OpenSea, starting with a Legendary Gold Selenia Sky with a base price of 0.01 ETH, to celebrate its integration into Ethereum.

Players of the blockchain game need only to select the cards they want to send to the Ethereum blockchain on the card details view and choose the “Ethereum” option. Users must then link their Ethereum wallet address to their game account through MetaMask or a Web3-enabled browser or extension.

Players cannot use the transferred cards in the game unless they transfer the cards back from their Ethereum wallet using the same process as sending to Ethereum. The only difference is that users need to sign and broadcast a transaction to the Ethereum blockchain.

Aside from the cards, Splinterlands has also permitted the conversion of Dark Energy Crystals, the currency within the game, into ERC-20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain.

The blockchain game hopes that the move will lead to Ethereum-based decentralized exchanges listing the token soon.
